About

Hi! I’m Kari Dent and I live in a small town on the coast of Georgia. I call it paradise! I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. But my greatest love is the Lord Jesus Christ who made me His own over 40 years ago.

I was raised in a Christian home where church was a big part of my family’s life. My hero was my pastor as well as the many missionaries with whom my family came into contact through the work of our church. Saved at the age of nine, I always felt God’s hand upon my life and became a serious student of the Word at the age of thirteen. Many years ago I began to read great Christian biographies, many of whom were missionaries – Brother Andrew, Darlene Diebler Rose, Gladys Aylward, Isobel Kuhn, Amy Carmichael. These had a tremendous impact on my perspective toward reaching the world for Christ.

After reading Brother Andrew’s book God’s Smuggler my eyes were opened to the modern-day reality of Christian persecution. I learned that the ministry he began in the 1960’s was still going strong supporting and encouraging those suffering for their faith all over the world. The ministry is called Open Doors, and I have been a volunteer with the USA division for close to two decades.

The genesis of this website began with my first blog Precept Camden which I started in 2009. Precept Camden began as a non-denominational Bible study  meeting in Camden County, Georgia, in 1999 under my leadership. Ten years after I had been teaching this community Bible study, I began a blog and website to minister to my students. However, the ministry of Precept Camden grew beyond a local Bible study. People from over 138 countries started visiting the website, utilizing the resources, and requesting to take online Bible studies with us.

I decided to start a new website bearing my own name for a variety of reasons – not the least of which is that people constantly thought that Precept Camden is a ministry in Camden, New Jersey. (Not that there’s anything wrong with New Jersey! lol) So thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something to inspire you to dig deeper into the Word of God and to be a devoted Christ follower.

Yes, I live in paradise, but I’m really just passing through on my way to the true, eternal paradise – my home in heaven! “For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.” Hebrews 13:14
